The Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA) based in Abuja, Nigeria, is recruiting new staff for the following position:
– Technical Assistant (Reference ANOCA / HR / TEA / 001/2022)
OBJECTIVE
This recruitment (new position) is part of the restructuring of ANOCA Administration and its professionalisation. The assistant will work under the direct supervision and responsibility of the Technical Director. He / She will be responsible for assisting the Technical Director in the implementation of programs in the Technical Department of ANOCA.
This appointment also aims at strengthening the principle of good governance and separation of powers within the organisation.

JOB DESRCIPTION
Main Responsibilities
- To assist the Technical Director in the implementation of programmes in the Technical Department. The programmes include but not limited to Continental Activities Programme, ANOCA Athlete Support, ANOCA Continental Games; Special Projects;
- Analysis of Olympic Solidarity programmes and monitoring of uptake by the African NOCs;
- Assist and co-ordinate activities of relevant Commissions and sub-committees to achieve ANOCA’s mandate and objectives; These are: Athletes, Women, Medical and anti-doping, Games Co-ordination, Paris 2024 Athlete support Commission and other Commissions as shall be assigned;
- Facilitate programmes aimed at supporting athletes, coaches and support teams;
- Liaise with NOCs to ensure proper reporting on athlete support programmes, continental activities programmes and other programmes as shall be assigned;
- Provide technical input and support to NOCs where required;
- Manage ANOCA Recognition System of key technical service providers;
- Collate and input data on the ANOCA Database of athletes, coaches, technical officials and training centres;
- Liaise with training centres to ascertain progress on athlete preparation;
- Liaise with Tertiary institutions on the training programmes for athletes and officials
- Maintain relations with key stakeholders on relevant technical matters as shall be directed by the Technical Director;
- Compile weekly rankings of African athletes in all Olympic sports. From time to time, you may be required to include non-Olympic Sports;
- Assist in the compilation of monthly and quarterly reports of the Technical Department
- Provide accurate and relevant information for inclusion in all technical reports as shall be required;
- Provide any other reasonable assistance as shall be required by the operations of the Association
Requirements
- A Bachelors Degree in Sports Science/ Exercise Science or Exercise Physiology
- An equivalent Bachelors qualification in Sport will be considered, e.g., Sports Management
- Use of computer, MS Word, MS PowerPoint and Excel. Knowledge of other computer software will be an added advantage, in particular databases
- Excellent command of French or English. Intermediate command of the other will be an added advantage
- Experience in sports development/ athlete support programmes
- Understanding of sport in general, in particular Olympic Sports
