As part of preparations for the 3rd edition of the African Beach Games billed for Riaba, Equatorial Guinea, in 2027, the Honorable Mustapha Berraf met with representatives of the host country, on the sidelines of the Maiden African School Games
Preparations for this big event were the focus of an important working session that brought together a delegation from Equatorial Guinea and ANOCA, on the sidelines of the Maiden African School Games.
The delegation from Equatorial Guinea was led by Youth and Sports Minister, PEDRO NDONG NGUEMA, who was accompanied on the occasion by the Special Adviser to the President of the Republic in charge of Youth and Sports, DON PATRICIO BAKALE MBA MEDJA, the NOC President, ALEXANDRO MARTIN OWONO EVUNA and the NOC Secretary General, ALFONSO PABLO ONDO ADUGU. Discussions focused on preparations for the 3rd African Beach Games, which will be held in 2027 in Equatorial Guinea, specifically in the city of Riaba.
Also present were ANOCA Treasurer General, Engr. Habu Ahmed Gumel, ANOCA Secretary General, Engr. Ahmed Abou Elgasim Hashim, ANOCA Second Vice President, Mrs Filomena Fortes, and Mr Moncef Zemmouchi, with both parties mainly discussing organisational and technical aspects of the Games.
Suffice it to note that the African Beach Games are a multi-sport ANOCA event that features beach sports disciplines. The maiden edition was held in Cape Verde in 2019, followed by the 2023 edition in Hammamet, Tunisia.
A memorandum of understanding was signed between ANOCA and NOC-Equatorial Guinea on 19 December 2023, outlining the terms and conditions for hosting the Games, and both parties are committed to working together on various aspects, including competition venues, the sports programme, lodging and security.
Moreover, the government of Equatorial Guinea is fully involved in the organisation and is committed to supporting the event.
The African Beach Games aim to promote Olympic values, develop sports talents, and strengthen solidarity among African nations. That is why ANOCA and Equatorial Guinea are working together and are resolutely committed to ensuring the success of this event in a bid to contribute to sport development in Africa. This collaboration aims at promoting Olympic values and fostering solidarity among African nations.
