Honourable Mustapha BERRAF, ANOCA President and IOC Member, will be Guest of Honour at the General Assembly of the Olympic Council Asia
ANOCA President, the Honourable Mustapha BERRAF, will be Guest of Honour at the Ordinary Elective General Assembly of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA), scheduled for 11 and 12 May 2025, in Kuwait City.
The invitation speaks to the special relationship between the two continental organisations and is part of initiatives under the longstanding strategic cooperation between them. During the top-level meeting, Honourable BERRAF will hold strategic discussions with Asian Olympic leaders to develop joint initiatives aimed at addressing the common challenges faced by athletes and technicians from both continents.
The discussions will focus on increasing technical exchange programmes, training sports officials, and preparations ahead of the Olympic Games Los Angeles 2028.
The ANOCA President will, on the sidelines, also hold bilateral meetings with representatives of the NOCs of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, China, and Qatar. The meetings will aim to establish special cooperation frameworks for meaningful exchanges amongst athletes and technicians from these nations and their African counterparts.
“Our vision is clear: ANOCA and OCA, representing together over 100 National Olympic Committees and nearly 75% of the world’s population, can be a transformative force for the future of the Olympic Movement. Our consolidated cooperation will open new avenues for our budding talents and contribute to a more harmonious balance in global sports,” President BERRAF noted.
This initiative is part of the momentum driven by Honourable BERRAF since his re-election as ANOCA President during the 22nd General Assembly in Algiers in March 2025, and following the exceptional extension of his term as IOC member.
ANOCA has, under his stewardship, significantly expanded its African youth programmes, notably through the African Youth Games, the African Beach Games, and the Maiden African School Games. These events serve as essential platforms for budding talent identification in Africa and support to them on the road to sports excellence.
