I wish all the Muslim faithful in Africa the very best as they launch into the Ramadan fasting period. I encourage all sportsmen and women of the continent to make hood use of this period of prayer, penitence and retreat, which is a period of spiritual and religious regeneration.

I urge all the NOCs of Africa and Muslim countries that are launching into fasting to make the most of this period, which also upholds the Olympic values of solidarity, love and sharing.

To the entire African and global Muslim community, the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa, ANOCA, expresses its full support during this festive and solemn moment.

May this fasting month of Ramadan be one of abundant blessings and may Allah in his infinite mercy richly bless us with his abiding graces.
