The Maiden School Games in the history of Africa will hold in Algeria

ANOCA hereby confirms that the maiden African School Games will hold in Algeria as initially scheduled.

In response to unfounded rumours suggesting a possible postponement of the maiden African School Games billed for Algeria from 26 July to 6 August 2025, ANOCA wishes to issue a clear and formal disclaimer.

Fully backed by Algerian authorities, ANOCA hereby confirms that the Games will take place as initially planned, without any changes to the schedule. All organisational arrangements are well underway, in close collaboration with the Local Organising Committee (LOC), the Algerian Ministry of Sports and all the institutional and technical partners involved.

Historic event for African youths

Placed under the most distinguished patronage of the President of the Republic of Algeria, these Games will mark a historic milestone in our drive to build a truly continental school sports movement. They will offer a platform for budding African talents to shine, exchange ideas, celebrate African unity through sport and have their first-ever international experience in an Olympic setting.

ANOCA hereby expresses its total confidence in the quality organisation of the Games and the host country’s commitment to holding an event worthy of Africa.

Call to consider only official communications

ANOCA urges all NOCs, national sports federations, athletes, the media and the general public to refer solely to ANOCA and LOC official communication channels for all related information.

Thanks to partners and stakeholders

ANOCA would like to thank all its member NOCs, federations, institutional partners, volunteers and all those involved in the organisation of the Games. Their mobilisation, dedication and enthusiasm speak to the collective will to make the Maiden African School Games Algeria 2025 a major African youth celebration of sport, education and friendship.
