This ceremony is scheduled for 22 February 2022 in the presence of a host of important invited sports and political dignitaries, including many heads of States and Governments.
The Diamniadio Olympic Stadium has a capacity of 50, 000 seats and was built at the cost of about 230 million euros according to Senegalese authorities. Construction works lasted for two years. This beautiful infrastructure makes the pride of Senegal’s and Africa’s Olympic and Sports movement.
The Stadium will host the 2026 Youths Olympic Games as well as Senegal’s football national team’s matches.
ANOCA’s President said he was « happy to be part of writers of Senegal’s sports history and delighted to be the special guest of the President of the Republic of Senegal to which he pays special tribute for all his contribution to the promotion of sport and Olympic values ».
And he went further to say that « I wish to express my wishes of full success of the forthcoming of the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games».
