In order to enhance the impact of its action on youth and continental sport during the 2021-2024 Olympiad, ANOCA set up a task force to brainstorm the issue of sport development. The findings of the deliberations will be set out in a strategic plan of the Association. The working group first met on 2 September 2020, with ANOCA President, Mustapha Berraf, in attendance. He was accompanied by the 1st Vice President Joao Da Costa Alegre Afonso, the 4th Vice-President Ms Fardouza Mousa Egueh, the Secretary-General Ahmed Abou Elgasim HASHIM and the Treasurer General Habu GUMEL. The group is chaired by Ms Mathlohang Moiloa-Ramoqopo, 3rd Vice President of ANOCA and President of NOC Lesotho, who congratulated President Mustapha Berraf on the wonderful initiative of the African Olympic and sports movement. The first draft of the future strategic plan will be submitted to the President of ANOCA by 1st November 2020, in accordance with the mandate of the working group, which runs from August to 30 November 2020.
Suffice it to note that the NOCs and other ANOCA stakeholders, namely the IOC, Olympic Solidarity, the confederations and ANOC will be consulted in the process.
Furthermore, IOC President Dr Thomas Bach has declared his support for this initiative and encouraged the task force to do quality work that will guarantee the future of the African Olympic Movement.
