After the elective General Assembly of the Algeria Olympic Committee on 12 September 2020, the choice fell on Abderrahmane Hammad to head the body for the next four years. Following this election, the President of ANOCA was quick to address a congratulatory message to the new president.

“I am highly honoured to extend to you my sincere congratulations and those of the entire ANOCA Executive Committee. Your brilliant election to the helm of the Algeria National Olympic Committee is a source of pride for the African Olympic and sports movement. By the same token, I wish to underscore that I am personally pleased that the torchlight is in the safe hands of a champion of your calibre,” he wrote. “The Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa is, therefore, inclined to support you during this tenure, which bears a lot of hope for success. Mr President, we wish you every success in the discharge of the duties now incumbent on you,” concluded the IOC member and ANOCA President.
